When I started L&I, I was intentional about adding lipstick to be part of the brand name. I believed - and still do - that there is power in wearing lipstick.

And now that L&I has its own lip product line (launching next week on 9/13), I’m thrilled to share I’ll be giving away the full Make Your Mark Collection to one lucky winner!! The winner will receive two lipsticks, four lip glosses, a lip balm, and lip scrub!

Here’s how to enter:
- Make sure you’re following @lipstickandink

- Join the L&I email list if you haven’t already (head to the link in bio & scroll to the bottom)

Are you ready to make your mark?💋

This is 35!! If I’m being honest, I had a moment This is 35!! If I’m being honest, I had a moment of feeling all the feels this morning because 35 sounds OLD and I don’t necessarily “feel” my age. (I now know what my mom meant all those years when she said she didn’t feel her age.) It’s also my last birthday before I become a mom next month.

There’s a lot of change on the horizon but as I come to terms with it, I know it’s just the beginning of a beautiful new chapter for me and for my family. And I’m sitting here today reflecting with so much gratitude for all of my past chapters and lessons in between that have led me here.

The biggest life lessons I’ve learned to date:
♡ Own your power and always stay authentic to who you are. You are you for a reason.
♡ Speak up and advocate for yourself and what you believe in. Never let anyone make you feel small or less than.
♡ Your health is everything. Listen to your body and take care of yourself.
♡ You can only control what you can control. Let go and let be.
♡ You are stronger than you think. No matter that comes your way, you can persevere with the right mindset and the right support system.
♡ Make your mark and know you have the power to make an impact. The world needs your magic.

And with that, here’s to the next 35 💋
Lil Kelbel would be proud 🥲 What would you shar Lil Kelbel would be proud 🥲 What would you share with your younger self?

When I look back on my last nearly 35 years of life, I have so much gratitude and pride to be the woman that I am and continue to become:
♡ I am proud of my strength for getting through the difficult moments and facing my fears.
♡ I am proud of my determination to go after what I want, despite the potential risks and failures.
♡ I am proud of my curiosity and love of learning that has afforded me the opportunity to explore what interests me and travel to new places.
♡ Most importantly, I am proud of the choices I’ve made that have gotten to where I am today - choosing a wonderful partner, choosing a career I feel fulfilled in, choosing to start my business, choosing to become a mother, and choosing to stand up and speak up for what I believe in.

To my younger self, you have grown in more ways than you could ever imagine. And if we’re lucky, we have many more years to keep doing so 💋
I was fortunate to speak to the wonderful women an I was fortunate to speak to the wonderful women and allies of Women@Edison at @edisonenergy last Friday on the topic of self-advocacy in the workplace. It's a topic I am passionate about - so much so that I made it part of Lipstick & Ink's mission statement.

I started L&I with a mission to 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙. I want women to be confident in who they are, to go after their goals and passions, and to speak up for themselves and what they want.

I shared ③ ways you can advocate for yourself at work and grow your career in last week's session, which are:

𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽
What I mean here is taking an active role in your career. No one is going to care more about your career than you will. Reflect, map out, and action on your career goals. Seek out opportunities and resources that align with your goals and serve the career you want.

𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Self-promotion is just that - an art. One way to do this effectively is documenting and surfacing your contributions to your manager/leadership and tying them back to impact and results. Be mindful of your audience when self-promoting and focus on the content and data that they will care most about. Self-promotion isn't just about you - it's about the value that you provide.

𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
This means being mindful, strategic, and deliberate in how you boost your personal brand and gain exposure. Look for ways where you can speak up or share your thoughts - at work (company blog, conferences) and online (LinkedIn, personal website). Not only will people get to know you better, but you get a chance to exemplify what you want to be known for and the value that you bring.

When you do these three things, self-advocacy can help you to:
✔ Showcase your value and impact
✔ Brand yourself and stand out
✔ Get visible and gain recognition
✔ Set you up for career advancement

If you're not already doing these things, what are you waiting for? 💋
In many of my recent conversations with my clients In many of my recent conversations with my clients and fellow colleagues, there's been a common thread - they're wondering what's next for them, many of them recognizing they are at a career crossroads. Some don't know what path they want to take, some are stuck on the road they've chosen, and some feel downright lost.

When we get into these situations, it can be comforting to know there may be signs along the way of which direction we can take. But the reality is that is not always the case and we often find ourselves:
➙ In panic mode, frantically trying anything and everything to find our way (for example, spraying and praying resumes into the internet abyss)
➙ Looking around for others for direction (for example, asking others what we should do or comparing our journey to someone else's)
➙ Frozen in fear of the unknown or overwhelmed with the choices that lay ahead of us (for example, staying at a company out of comfort)

There is a better way. If you are finding yourself in any of the above situations, these are a few steps forward you can take:
• Get Resting
• Get Started
• Get Talking
• Get to Facing Your Fears

And don't forget to stay true to who you are. When you're at a career crossroads, focus on your path and your path only. Don't fall into the trap of comparing your path to someone else's and wondering if you're behind or don't have the skillset to get ahead. You have the power to find and choose what's next for you. Trust that💋

At some point in our lives, we all encounter a 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, those feelings of in-between or in limbo. Waiting for the right job, the right partner, the right home, the right opportunity of whatever is next. It can be an uncomfortable spot, waiting for the door to open to our next milestone of life, wondering, “What's next?” or "When will this happen for me?" It may feel like a negative space to be, but it doesn't have to be!

Instead of seeing waiting as a blocker, flip the script and see it as an opportunity to grow, to discover. Waiting can be a beautiful moment in time where you are intentionally placed in that position for a reason. That waiting room you're in can allow you to take the time to assess, to feel, to explore, to take risks, to 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦.

Knowing this, would you rather spend your time waiting in anxiety, fear, or doubt, wondering when things are going to happen? Or, would you rather take advantage of the time you have in that waiting room, making the most of your experiences and the people you meet?

I firmly believe that 𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙗𝙞𝙜 𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 - 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙪𝙨.

If you're currently in the waiting room, know that you're right where you need to be, in this moment. While it may feel you are falling behind or stuck, know with confidence that the door you're waiting for to open will when the timing is right 💋
