The Girl Behind Lipstick & Ink

Hello!! First off, I want to send a big virtual welcome hug to all of you! I am so, so excited you are here. For those that don’t know me, I’m Kelly, the girl behind Lipstick & Ink.

Kelly cozied up on lounger in a comfy sweater, smiling into the distance.

A Bit About Me

I’m a dreamer and a go-getter. I don’t run away from challenges; I tackle them head-on. I believe honesty is the best policy and I always tell it like it is. I work hard and travel hard (my 10+ page itineraries are my pride and joy). I enjoy losing myself in a good book but I also indulge in trashy TV shows. I believe a lit candle and a long walk on a beautiful, non-humid day are good for the soul. Barre and pilates are my jam and I’m pretty sure cheese and ice cream are the only foods I need in my life. At the end of the day, I truly believe everything happens for a reason. You can find more about me here.

Why I Started a Blog

After getting married in September 2017 and with wedding planning no longer taking up all my time, I realized something was missing. I’d come home from work and feel fulfilled with my job, but not necessarily with my life. I constantly feel like I have to be doing something productive so sitting on the couch and watching TV after work just wasn’t cutting it for me. I was lacking that creative passion a lot of people crave. I realized on a random Saturday in January that I hadn’t written much the last few years – because, life – and that I wanted to get back to my roots of writing. On January 13th, 2018, Lipstick & Ink was born.

Writing is My Passion

I started writing in my journal at the age of seven and and wrote my first “book” in the 6th grade. Growing up, I had poems and opinions published in the Chicago Tribune and I wrote lifestyle and sport articles for my high school newspaper. I was one of the few people that used and wrote Facebook Notes (they still exist by the way). I started a few random blogs in college, but they never amounted to much. I have continued writing in the professional world at my current employer, where I’ve had articles published on the Salesforce Blog. I even have an entire book I wrote over a span of about five years, just sitting on a flash drive. I’m still deciding what to do with it!

Anyways, after a lot of reflection, I decided to take the plunge and create a professional blog to jot down and share my thoughts and advice. It’s scary and uncomfortable to be vulnerable, but it’s also exhilarating. It’s a challenge I’m ready to take on and I hope you’ll be along for the ride with me. I’ll be focusing on topics related to career, health and wellness, travel and much more! I truly hope Lipstick & Ink becomes a place that inspires and encourages you and ultimately becomes a daily destination for you Pink lipstick stain
